Transit Mercury in the 11th House: Friends, Networks and Shared Ideas

Transit Mercury in the 11th house turns the mind toward friends, groups and plans for the future. When Mercury enters the 11th house of friendship, community, hopes and supporters, group chats come alive, meeting new people gets easier and talking through shared ideas is a pleasure.

When the group chat never goes quiet

During this period, being more active in an association, club or online community, attending a meetup, going to a networking event or having a long talk with an old friend are common. These are good weeks to start a joint project, volunteer or discuss a startup idea with friends. Technology, social media and digital platforms also fall within this house's territory.

The person begins to talk about future goals: where do they want to be a year from now, which community do they want to belong to? These questions can become clearer in the middle of conversations with friends.

The shadow side is scattered attention and shallow ties. While keeping in touch with many people, the friendships that truly matter can be neglected. Gossip within a group or clashing opinions are also possible frictions of this period.

What does a Mercury retrograde bring to the 11th house?

Mercury usually stays in the house of friendship for a few weeks, but during a retrograde the visit stretches to as long as two months. An 11th-house retrograde is linked to old friends reappearing, reconnecting with someone after a long silence, or talking through a misunderstanding within a group. It suits reviewing existing ties and updating old goals better than joining a brand-new community.

• Testing future plans by talking them through with a friend makes them clearer.
• Putting the division of tasks within a group in writing reduces friction.
• A short message to someone not heard from in a long time can open unexpected doors.
