Moon sign calculator
Your Moon sign is the sign the Moon was in when you were born. The Moon spends about two and a half days in each sign, so people born in the same month can have very different Moon signs.
After you fill in the form, your Moon sign is shown prominently above your chart. If the Moon changed sign that day, the result depends on your birth time.
If you don't know the time, check "I don't know the time"; houses and Ascendant are hidden, and the Moon's position is approximate (±6°).
What does the Moon sign describe?
The Moon stands for emotions, the need for security, habits and what makes you feel at home. Where the Sun shows your conscious direction, the Moon shows what you instinctively turn to when tired or under stress.
In relationships the Moon sign describes how you give care and how you like to receive it. The fit between two people's Moons is one of the first things looked at in synastry.

Frequently asked questions
- Do I need my birth time for the Moon sign?
- Usually not: if the Moon didn't change sign that day, the date is enough. But it changes sign every two to three days, and if you were born on such a day the result depends on the time. Without a time you'll see the result for 12:00 noon.
- Why does my Moon sign feel different from my Sun sign?
- Because they describe different layers. The Sun is your chosen direction and identity; the Moon your instinctive reactions and emotional needs. When they're in clashing elements (fire and water, say), that inner tension is felt often, and balancing it becomes a skill.
- Why does the Moon sign matter in relationships?
- Everyday closeness is largely the Moon's territory: how you unwind, how you react in a crisis, what you need at home. When partners' Moons aspect each other well, living together can feel easy even with very different Sun signs.
- How do I read the Moon together with the Sun and rising sign?
- A short formula: the Sun is what you want to become, the Moon what you need, and the rising sign how you show both to the world. When all three share an element the personality reads as one clear voice; when they differ it reads as layered. Both are natural.
